Our Story
Johnson Design Group (JDG) began its journey in November 2009, founded by Warren Johnson after his successful tenure as a design principal at multiple large firms and as a co-founder of Johnson Atala Associates. JDG quickly established its expertise by designing the New Century International Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Tianjin, China, a project that paved the way for ten more healthcare projects.
Expanding its reach, JDG took on a range of projects in healthcare, hospitality, and multifamily developments locally and internationally, including work in India, Egypt, Russia, and Trinidad. In 2012, JDG partnered with a larger local firm, becoming its sixth studio for Houston-area projects. After a period of team restructuring, JDG continued to thrive independently, focusing on smaller projects and rebuilding its portfolio.
The pandemic in 2020 marked a turning point, with JDG revitalizing its focus and securing numerous multifamily and mixed-use projects in Texas, including the emerging Build-to-Rent (BTR) communities. With 14 years of experience, JDG continues to serve clients regionally and globally with innovative, high-quality design solutions.
